Woo Hyun Kang

Woo Hyun Kang is an artist who recently completed a Master of Fine Arts at RMIT University. Having lived overseas from a young age, she developed a deep engagement with art through exposure to diverse cultural environments and traditional art forms.

Her practice spans mixed-media installation and expanded painting, using storytelling as a central methodology for translating memory into spatial and material form. Through narrative gestures, she explores the relationship between identity, emotion, and the lived environments that shape recollection. Kang translates personal yet cultural narratives into recreated memory forms that evoke the rhythms of lived experiences and the quiet poetics of home. By layering fragments of space, atmosphere, and personal history, her work invites viewers to enter a story rather than simply observe it.

She continues to expand her research-led practice, seeking new material and conceptual approaches to deepen her inquiry into memory, space, and embodied experience..
